I77 South Managed Lanes – Project Notes and Important Engagement Milestones

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) invites you to be part of an important moment for the I-77 South corridor. Over the coming weeks, we are hosting a series of community engagement opportunities designed to ensure community voice is reflected in the process, and we want you there.

The I-77 South Express Lanes Project is more than a transportation improvement. It is a chance to listen, to learn from the communities along the corridor, and to reflect what residents, businesses, and stakeholders value most. We need the community to participate.

Important to Note

  • The engagement period is open now and will remain open through construction
  • The project has weekly engagement opportunities with the community – in-person and virtually – hosted and invited.
  • The Community Engagement Center is open six (6) day each week at 1023 W. Morehead Street, Suite 150, Charlotte
  • The Environmental Decision Document will be final in the Spring of 2027
  • The public will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the project’s NEPA Environmental Document as part of the formal public comment process before any final decisions are made
  • The window for the community to influence community benefits is open and will remain open through construction
  • The selected developer’s final proposal and contract will also include community benefits, expected in the Fall of 2027
  • Everyone is welcome to attend and participate

Developer Listening Sessions with Community

Join other community members for a facilitated session with the four shortlisted developers and provide your feedback on design, community benefits, and other aspects of what you want to see in your community. Choose the session that works best for your schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. | RSVP
  • Wednesday, May 13 at 8:00 a.m. | RSVP
  • Wednesday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. | RSVP

Reconnecting the Corridor Summit

This is the opportunity to put reconnecting the corridor at the center of the conversation and to provide your feedback on potential options. The project represents an opportunity to reconnect communities disconnected when I-77 was initially built. Transportation infrastructure decisions have lasting impacts. These conversations are intended to help ensure community perspectives are heard throughout the process. Please plan to participate and save a spot at one of these sessions:

  • Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. | RSVP
  • Wednesday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. | RSVP
  • Wednesday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. | RSVP

How to Register

To register and learn more about each session, please scan the QR code on the attached flyer or visit the project website. Space is limited, and early registration helps us plan a meaningful experience for every participant.

Why Your Voice Matters

It’s simple, your participation strengthens the outcome. We are committed to clear communication, transparent decision-making, and engagement that is genuinely two-way.

We hope to see you at one or more of these sessions. Please share this invitation with others in your network who would value the opportunity to weigh in. Together, we can help shape what comes next.
