Mooresville Invites Public Comment on Comprehensive Plan Draft Version

Taken from an email from City Explained, Inc.
Great news! A full draft of the Mooresville Tomorrow comprehensive plan is available for review and comment. It represents a 99% complete version of the document minus a “top ten list of initiatives” (page 4) and a plan implementation matrix (page 143), both of which will be created after input is received from the public.

Please stop by the Planning and Community Development Department if you need to view a printed copy. Their office is located at 750 W. Iredell Avenue.
Three community workshops were held on October 6-7-9, 2025, to collect feedback on the draft document. Thank you to everyone that attended one of the events!
Additional comments or questions can be emailed to Ashley Lattin at alattin@mooresvillenc.gov. You can send them using (1) the sticky notes tool in Adobe Acrobat, (2) a list of comments with chapter-page-paragraph references, or (3) hand-written notes in a hard copy of the document.
Feel free to call Ashley in the Planning and Community Development Department at 704-799-4042 if you have any questions while reviewing it. Also, please forward this message to anyone in your social circles that you think would be interested in reviewing, and providing comments on, the draft comprehensive plan.
Please provide any comments on the draft document via the email address above (alattin@mooresvillenc.gov) before November 3, 2025, to be considered for the next version. A new version of the document — labeled the public hearing draft — will be released in December 2025.
Rob’s Take: Over the last couple of years, there has been some talk around the increasing difficulty in obtaining approvals on new development projects in Mooresville. Significant staff turnover at the Town as well as an uptick in anti-growth sentiment have contributed to some of these challenges. We now have an opportunity to weigh in on this key planning document as it works its way through the process. If you live in Mooresville or are contemplating future projects within that jurisdiction, please take a moment to provide your feedback now.
