Professional Background

Current Role & Company: What is your current position, and what does your company specialize in?

Senior Vice President - Commercial Real Estate Relationship Manager

Career Path: How did you get started in commercial real estate, and what led you to where you are today?

My goal was always to be a banker and I was fortunate that my career lead me to cover CRE. All these years later I couldn't imagine being in any other industry.

Area of Expertise: What are your key areas of expertise in commercial real estate (e.g., development, brokerage, construction, finance, legal, etc.)?

I cover a wide arrange of asset classes (i.e. Industrial, Multifamily, Hospitality, Retail, Office) along with serving various business models (i.e. Developers, Family Offices, Private REITs, Fund Managers, Property Managers). This wide scope is fundamental to my success as an advisor.

Notable Projects/Deals: Can you share a project, transaction, or initiative you’re particularly proud of?

I am proud of all of the projects I am privileged to partner with local developers on. While I can't pick a favorite I can say that the projects that provide jobs, connect with the community, and are thoughtfully designed are always favorites.

Industry Insights: What’s one trend or challenge in commercial real estate that excites or concerns you?

The overall growth in the Southeast has been amazing. Seeing this region thrive, cities and towns grow, and investments being made to create vibrant communities. It's rewarding to play a small part in that story.

Involvement in NAIOP

Role in the Association: What is your role within NAIOP Charlotte, and how long have you been involved?

I am currently the Treasurer and I have been involved in NAIOP for over 10 years.

Why You Joined: What motivated you to join NAIOP?

NAIOP perfectly balances educational opportunities, networking, and awareness of important local/state/national issues facing the industry. To serve this industry best I need a little of everything NAIOP offers.

Value of Membership: How has being a member of NAIOP benefited you personally and professionally?

Without NAIOP I wouldn't be nearly as knowledgeable around land design, infrastructure consideration, trends that GCs or architects are seeing in the market, or policies affecting our clients. Membership is invaluable to my role and my personal brand.

Advice for New Members: What advice would you give to someone considering joining or getting more involved?

If you're considering joining I recommend attending one of the handful of events that are open to members and non-members. If you're already a member and looking to get more involved don't hesitate to reach out to the membership committee and they can help direct you. Beyond that it comes down to not procrastinating. Make the call, send the email, attend the event, and you'll start earning dividends.

Favorite Event/Initiative: What is your favorite event or initiative within NAIOP and why?

While the state conference in Pinehurst and golf tournaments are top tier, I really enjoy the local socials. They are usually smaller groups so it's easier to spend time talking with fellow members, learning about what people are working on and challenges/successes in the market. Additionally the newest members are encouraged to attend so you never know who you'll run into.

Personal & Fun Insights

Hidden Talent or Fun Fact: What’s something people might not know about you?

I have many names: My Appalachian Trail name is Grizzly which I earned during my 2,176 mile thru-hike of the AT. My F3 name is Preschool, given to me early one morning at Calvary Church where I attended preschool as a child.

Best Piece of Advice: What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

Be concise.

Words to Live By: Do you have a personal mantra or philosophy that guides your approach to work and life?

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” – Albert Einstein
