Professional Background

  1. Current Role & Company: What is your current position, and what does your company specialize in?
My current position at LPC is Vice President of Construction & Development and LPC specializes in commercial real estate services.
  2. Career Path: How did you get started in commercial real estate, and what led you to where you are today?
During the great recession in 2008, I was working for a residential general contractor. When the housing bubble burst, I jumped over to the commercial real estate side and specialized in construction management.
  3. Area of Expertise: What are your key areas of expertise in commercial real estate (e.g., development, brokerage, construction, finance, legal, etc.)?
In my role at LPC, I focus on development and construction but work very closely with our brokerage team, finance team and property management teams.
  4. Notable Projects/Deals: Can you share a project, transaction, or initiative you're particularly proud of?
From 2016 thru present, I have been the development manager for Legacy Union in Uptown Charlotte. I have been involved from due diligence through core and shell completion for BofA Tower, The Deloitte Tower, the SevenTwenty Parking Deck, Honeywell Corporate Headquarters and 600 S. Tryon. These buildings combine for over 2.5 million SF of office and approximately 5,000 parking spaces.
  5. Industry Insights: What's one trend or challenge in commercial real estate that excites or concerns you?
The lack of capital is still a huge challenge for development these days. I am hopeful that the capital markets will further open up but things are progressing a little slower than what I anticipated.

Involvement in NAIOP

  1. Role in the Association: What is your role within NAIOP Charlotte, and how long have you been involved?
I am currently the 2025 programs director for NAIOP and have been on the board for 2 years. I joined NAIOP in 2020.
  2. Why You Joined: What motivated you to join NAIOP?
I wanted to get more involved with the Charlotte development community and saw the opportunity with NAIOP.
  3. Value of Membership: How has being a member of NAIOP benefited you personally and professionally?
I have really enjoyed meeting with our local, state and federal representatives as a part of our ongoing advocacy campaign. This opportunity has provided me a chance to discuss issues/solutions that impact the development community in the Carolinas and also shown me how effective it can be working directly with those who represent your district and community.
  4. Advice for New Members: What advice would you give to someone considering joining or getting more involved?
Go to as many events as you can and get engaged. The content provided by NAIOP is a huge benefit. Being around similar professionals and networking is important but we are stronger as a group when we unify behind one Charlotte development movement.
  5. Favorite Event/Initiative: What is your favorite event or initiative within NAIOP and why?
I have always enjoyed a friendly level of competition. That being said, the first inaugural pickleball tournament in 2024 was a great success and I look forward to building on this event.

Personal & Fun Insights

  1. Hidden Talent or Fun Fact: What's something people might not know about you?
I was a walk-on punter for Purdue from 1997–2001 and later earned a scholarship. We went to 5 bowl games and I started for Purdue in the 2001 Rose Bowl.
  2. Best Piece of Advice: What's the best professional advice you've ever received?
If you have a problem and share it with your team, it's everybody's problem. If you have a problem and keep it to yourself, it's your problem.
  3. Words to Live By: Do you have a personal mantra or philosophy that guides your approach to work and life?
It's never as bad as it seems, it's never as good as it seems. Stay balanced in how you approach all things in life both personally and professionally.
